Lost tribe settlement found

There are thought to be around 100 ‘lost tribes’ still remaining in the world today, that is nomadic, indigenous peoples who choose to remain in isolation. It’s estimated that around 50 of these tribes live in the border area between Brazil and Peru. Recently, anthropologists found an abandoned village in a densely forested remote part of Peru, complete with 38 huts, spears, baskets and food. The discovery presents a rare opportunity to find out more about these Amazonian tribes, who have no other contact to outside world.

Around 150 people are thought to have lived in the village before it was abandoned. While the area is not directly at risk from development, the land is increasingly sought after, threatening the existence of these peoples and their unique way of life.
