Pharaoh King Ramesses II

Pharaoh is the name given to the ancient kings and queens of Egypt who ruled as religious and political leaders.

Although most Egyptian rulers were male, there have been female rulers also, they are also known as Pharaohs. These hieroglyphic symbols are generally found in cartouches which are squares with rounded corners containing a name.
